Listen, 2024

Visual rhythm is explored through what might be seen as spatial experimentation, reinterpreting the relationships of tension and ease between objects in three dimensions. Each element was created by deconstructing layers of drawings made with marker pens and wax pencils on paper, followed by repeated scanning and color adjustments in a scrap-and-build approach. The numerous curves scattered throughout the piece evoke the sculptural works of Richard Serra, who passed away the same year.

視覚的なリズムの探究を目指した本作品。それはある種の空間的試みであり、オブジェクト同士が織りなす緊張と緩和の関係性を３次元的に捉え直そうとしている。それぞれの要素は、マジックペンやダーマトグラフで実際に紙に描いたものを何層にも分解し、スキャンや色彩調整などスクラップアンドビルドを繰り返して制作された。全体に散りばめられた数々の曲線は、同年に逝去したリチャード・セラの彫刻作品を私たちに想起させる。
